Corporate Knights

Corporate Knights (CK) is a Toronto-based media, research and investment research company. CK's media division distributes its flagship magazine Corporate Knights as a quarterly insert in the Globe and Mail and Washington Post. Corporate Knights is the world's only large circulation (200K+) magazine focused on the intersection between business and society. CK's financial products division, Corporate Knights Capital, provides clean capitalism data to asset owners, managers and corporates to support investment decision making and internal benchmarking.

How the the Global 100 has evolved over time:

2005-2009: Corporate Knights launches the Global 100 at the World Economic Forum. The ranking is based on research provided by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors.

2010: Corporate Knights creates the “Global 100 Council of Experts” and partners with Legg Mason’s Global Currents Investment Management, Phoenix Sustainable Group, and Inflection Point Capital Management to conduct the ranking.  From a starting universe of 3,000 global stocks, the top ten per cent were isolated based on financial health and qualitative sustainability ratings. Corporate Knights then transparently ranked this basket of shortlisted companies on 10 indicators, with data sourced from Bloomberg and ASSET4, a Thomson Reuters business.

2011: Corporate Knights introduces controversy ratings provided by Sustainalytics to screen out companies with major controversies.
